    Morphogenic protein required for the assembly of the outer coat of the endospore. Is also a regulatory protein for the expression of cotA, cotB, cotC, cotH and other genes encoding spore outer coat proteins.

    1. CotH controls assembly of CotE and this mutual dependency is due to a direct interaction between the two proteins. The C-terminal end of CotE is essential for direct interaction and CotH cannot bind to mutant CotE deleted of 6 or 9 C-terminal amino acids. PMID: 26484546
