Interacts specifically with the W box (5'-(T)TGAC[CT]-3'), a frequently occurring elicitor-responsive cis-acting element. Positive regulator of EDS1-dependent defense against E.amylovora. Together with WRKY70 and WRKY53, promotes resistance to P.syringae, probably by enhancing salicylic acid (SA)- dependent genes. Contributes to the suppression of jasmonic acid (MeJA)-induced expression of PDF1.2. Together with WRKY54 and WRKY70, promotes brassinosteroid (BR)-regulated plant growth but prevent drought response by modulating gene expression.
