    Regulatory subunit of S-adenosylmethionine synthetase 2, an enzyme that catalyzes the formation of S-adenosylmethionine from methionine and ATP. Regulates MAT2A catalytic activity by changing its kinetic properties, increasing its affinity for L-methionine. Can bind NADP (in vitro).

MAT2B downregulation delays tumor growth in vivo, and suppressed cell growth, colony formation ability and induced apoptosis in vitro indicating that MAT2B is critical for melanoma cell proliferation and tumorigenicity.     2. Interaction between MAT2B and GIT1 serves as a scaffold and facilitates signaling in multiple steps of the Ras/Raf/MEK/ERK pathway PMID: 25794709
