    RNA-binding protein that specifically bind the 3'-UTR of VegT transcripts, leading to maintain their stability and stimulate their translation, thereby playing a role in germ layer formation. VegT is a localized maternal determinant essentially required for endoderm formation. Also has some proneural function in the open neural plate and in the context of retinogenesis. May also act as a mRNA splicing factor. May play a role in myogenic differentiation.
