    Recombinant Staphylococcus aureus Zinc metalloproteinase aureolysin(aur) is a partial length protein expressed with an N-terminal His-tagged or Tag-Free. Its expression region corresponds to 210-509aa of mouse aur protein. Its purity was determined by SDS-PAGE and reached up to 85%. This recombinant aur protein may be used to synthesize antibodies against aur or on the studies of aur-associated signal transduction.
    Aureolysin is an extracellular zinc-dependent metalloproteinase expressed by the pathogenic bacterium Staphylococcus aureus. This enzyme can cleave host factors of the innate immune system anf regulae S. aureus secreted toxins and cell wall proteins, resulting in the bacterium's virulence or disease. To catalyze its enzymatic activities, aureolysin requires zinc and calcium which it obtains from the extracellular environment within the host.

    Plays an essential role in immune evasion by helping bacteria to resist complement-mediated killing by neutrophils. Inhibits the deposition of host C3b on bacterial surfaces and the release of the chemoattractant C5a by cleaving the central complement protein C3. The cleavage site renders the C3b molecule vulnerable to proteolytic degradation by host regulators. Cleaves and inactivates host SERPINA1, which is an endogenous protease inhibitor essential for controlling neutrophil serine protease elastase. Plays also an essential role in the cleavage and subsequent activation of the serine protease SspA which is involved in colonization and infection of human tissues.
