    Catalyzes the hydrolysis of triglycerides and phospholipids present in circulating plasma lipoproteins, including chylomicrons, intermediate density lipoproteins (IDL), low density lipoproteins (LDL) of large size and high density lipoproteins (HDL), releasing free fatty acids (FFA) and smaller lipoprotein particles.
