Developmental role in early embryogenesis and the metaphase to anaphase transition in oocyte and spermatocyte meiosis and mitosis in somatic and germ cells. Required for embryonic anterior-posterior axis formation. Negatively regulates ify-1 protein levels during meiosis I. Plays a role in regulating the abundance of glr-1 receptors in postmitotic neurons, which may in turn control animal locomotion. Involved in regulating GABA neurotransmitter release at neuromuscular junctions in GABA motor neurons.
