    The chicken Ovotransferrin (Otrf) is used as the immunogen to immunize the rabbit to yield the anti-Ovotransferrin antibody. The Ovotransferrin polyclonal antibody exhibits as an unconjugated IgG isoform. Its purity is 95%+ using protein G purified. It only reacts with chicken Ovotransferrin, which is present both in avian plasma and egg white and possesses both iron-transfer and protective properties. Ovotransferrin is responsible for promoting the growth and development of the chicken embryo mainly by preventing the growth of microorganisms together with other proteins such as lysozyme, cystatin, and avidin. This Ovotransferrin antibody has been validated to recognize Ovotransferrin in ELISA analysis.

    Transferrins are iron binding transport proteins which can bind two Fe(3+) ions in association with the binding of an anion, usually bicarbonate. Responsible for the transport of iron from sites of absorption and heme degradation to those of storage and utilization. There are two forms of hen transferrin, ovotransferrin, found in the ovoducts and, serum transferrin, secreted by the liver. Serum transferrin may also have a role in stimulating cell proliferation and is regulated by iron levels. Ovotransferrin has a bacteriostatic function and, is not controlled by iron levels.
