  • 功能：
    Transcriptional repressor. Binds with MAX to form a sequence-specific DNA-binding protein complex which recognizes the core sequence 5'-CAC[GA]TG-3'. Antagonizes MYC transcriptional activity by competing for MAX and suppresses MYC dependent cell transformation.

    3. Acute MXD3 activation results in a transient increase in DAOY cell proliferation while persistent activation of MXD3 results in an overall decrease in cell number, suggesting that the time course of MXD3 expression dictates the cellular outcome. PMID: 25053245
    4. Increased level and/or duration of MXD3 expression ultimately reduces cell numbers via increased cell death and cell cycle arrest in medulloblastoma cells. PMID: 22808009
